The WEINRIEDER ESTATE, the estate in the Weinviertel with the great reputation

The estate, to the north-east of Vienna, enjoys a long tradition in growing wine. Here Friedrich Rieder looks after one of the best known estates in the Lower Austria province. In Kleinhadersdorf / Poysdorf, he cultivates 15 hectares of vineyards in prime positions using ecologically sound methods. He concentrates on white wines – mainly Grüner Veltliner, Weissburgunder, Riesling and Chardonnay. After delicate handling during harvesting the grapes, fermenting takes place without the addition of sugar and under cool conditions. Friedrich Rieder considers the authenticity of his wines to be of prime importance. They show the individuality of the soil and the personal character of the estate.

The emphasis on consistent quality of the dry wines and premium vintages have made the estate , under the name WEINRIEDER, to a well known brand. Numerous national and international awards are one of the reasons why the name Weinrieder is mentioned in the same breath as the most highly regarded wineries in trade circles. Friedrich Rieder enjoys this challenge and explains his philosophy: “You have to compete on an international level if you want to satisfy the true wine lover and top-level restaurants.” A special mention should be made of the sensational success at the ‘Hamburger Weinsalon’ where the estate managed to win five ‘grand prix’ awards.

The estate is represented at all important wine fairs and presents its range at tastings or at the Weinrieder vinyard. Weinrieder exports 80% of his production and sells to leading wine boutiques and top level restaurants in Germany, the Benelux, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. By working closely together with the Austrian Marketing Board, even more markets are expected to be developed.
